Realistic Carrier Deck Scene with an A-6 Intruder in 1/48 Scale
Modeler David Klaas has created an impressive 1/48 scale diorama depicting the preparation of an A-6 Intruder aboard the legendary aircraft carrier USS Midway.
To bring the scene to life, the author incorporated ResKit RSF48-0035 – MJ-1 “Jammer” Driver and Mechanics (Scene 2) figures, which perfectly capture the busy atmosphere of a carrier deck crew preparing an aircraft for launch. Details like these add a sense of movement and realism, transforming the model into a convincing snapshot of life aboard a U.S. Navy carrier.
In the video, David showcases the assembly and painting of the MHU-191 ammunition transporter and MJ-1B Jammer lift truck, along with the construction of a highly realistic carrier deck complete with deck tie-downs. The project also features intricate decal work, weathering techniques, and careful attention to every element of the scene.
Watch the full build process and see how meticulous detailing and thoughtful composition bring this carrier deck vignette to life, capturing the authentic atmosphere of flight deck operations aboard a U.S. Navy carrier.
